Beginner Scrapbooking Part I & II

This is so exciting! Many people want to make treasures from memories held in photos but don’t know where to begin. You’ll learn about the basic tools required for scrapbooking, how to use them, and what works best for some basic techniques and get to practice some of what you learn by making a layout. We are happy to start you on your way with two classes. Once you’ve taken these two classes you will feel comfortable in signing up for most of the other classes we offer. The instructors for the classes we have will always be happy to help you along should you need it; so will others in class. We are a happy and friendly group of people, but then who wouldn’t be when wandering down memory lane as we scrapbook or as we create other beautiful paper crafts.

From now on we will take names and then determine a date to host the class
COST: $20.00
Beginners
In this first class you will have a handy instruction sheet that will benefit you as you learn in class as well as once you get home. You will learn how to maximize your paper to save without waste, how to cut, what your tools will do do for you and how to use them, learn some basic scrapbook terminology and design elements, the variety of scrapbooks available, and more. Plus, you will walk away with your first one page simple and easy layout for 2 or 3 photos. We will answer and discuss any questions you may have and get you on the right track to preserve all those precious memories waiting to be displayed in beautiful albums you have created to share with family and friends.

From now on we will take names and then determine a date to host the class
COST: $30.00
Beginners
For the second class we will be doing more hands on learning by creating a double page layout that spans two pages in a scrapbook and learn what a layout sketch is; how to read and interpret them, colour coordinating your paper with your photos, how to choose multiple patterne

We have a lot of fun projects lined up for you, and if you take all four of the planned classes between September and the December you will receive a FREE G45 Staples large Kraftboard Tag Album, at the last class before Christmas! We will most likely be using Secret Garden, French Country, and The Twelve Days of Christmas lines for these classes. And don’t worry, we’ll start the Graphic 45 Club up again in January 2014! Just imagine all the new G45 papers that will be coming out in the new year and the great classes and FUN we will have!

It’s time to consider gifts for Christmas, or perhaps there are few more special occasions still to consider before then. But in any case, this project will make a wonderful gift. A beautiful matchbox filled with 6 tags. This box can be used for other things once the tags have been used, or just sit as room decor. With more French Country projects on the horizon, this could be a part of a gift set like we did with the Bird Song classes last year.

This is what will be needed for class.

Spectrum Noir Fun Club - Sept

Tuesday, October 15th
6:00 – 9:00 pm
$35

I know that you are wondering why we are making Thanksgiving cards the day after. So sorry to get it out too late, but you can keep these for next year, or make them into Fall birthday cards if you wish. We will be learning three new things – how to blend different colours together in the Autumn leaves (a must know for SN colourists), distressing paper edges with our SN markers, and using stamps for our sentiments that can be coloured with our markers too! These rich Autumn colours are so fun to colour, that you may want to make more of these!

These are the markers we will using in this class – CT2, CT4, GB5, GB10, OR1, TN7, TN8, CG1, CG2, DG2, DG3, DG4, EB1, EB2, & blender & your palette will be very much needed for this class.

If you haven’t already done so, and wish to have one of or both of the stamps used for this class, you can order from Carol. You will also be emailed a colouring chart the Friday or Monday before class to fill in the colours. It is a good idea to print these colouring charts on the Spectrum Noir paper.

This is what you will need in class to assemble your cards - splat mat, scrap paper, palette (yogurt or margarine lid), scissors, double sided adhesive, scotch tape, foam dimensionals/pop-dots, and either of Hot Cocoa or Copper Liquid Pearls.

Wedding Folio Class

Saturday, October 12th
9:30 – 4:30 (1 hour lunch break)
$95.00 ($70 worth of materials)

Many of you that took last November’s Christmas Folio requested way back then that we repeat the class for a Wedding Folio. Well here it is. When I saw the Kaisercraft’s “On This Day” I knew it was time to create that folio class for you. I’ve changed the size to 10″ x 10″ and redesigned the pages differently to make room for more than one larger photo. I think that you will really enjoy making this project. Now, remember, just because some of the Tags refer to wedding, doesn’t mean that you have to make a wedding folio with these papers. If you change the tags, it could be a 50th wedding (or other) anniversary, it could be about a special ladies event, or about best girlfriends getting together for a few days of fun, it could even work a special birthday, or be a folio all about your grandmother, or a family keepsake for a daughter or grand-daughter going off to college, and so much more. All you have to do is use the scraps to make tags not related to weddings.

This is what you will need for class – paper trimmer (with sharp blade), scissors, ruler, pencil & eraser, ScorTape – one 1/8″ roll, at least two 1/4″ rolls, and one 1/2″ roll, quick dry glue, score board (Martha Stewart’s with 1/8″ intervals is best and there will be 2 extra to use, so mention when you sign up if you need to use one), corner rounder and your favorite Martha Stewart edge punch (Deep edge ones work great for making tag & photo pockets. If you wish to order a deep edge punch from Carol now, you should get it in plenty of time for the class. Should you wish to give it a vintage look, bring your favorite vintage ink and ink blending tool along with your splat mat/nonstick mat.

G45 Club - Class # 2

Saturday, October 12th
9:30 1:00
$40.00

Our second Graphic 45 Club class will be a set of four 5 1/2″ square cards. I know many of you love working with Graphic 45 papers as much as I do. And these cards are something you will not want to miss out on. These would make a great Christmas gift, too. Plus, if you are really into the Graphic 45 French Country line, you could make a day of it and join us in the afternoon to make a beautiful French Country layout. (I’m still working on it and it will soon be posted, so watch for it.)

This is what you will need for this class – paper trimmer, scissors (can’t have a G45 class without fussy cutting), Tim Holtz ink pads in Antique Linen & Vintage Photo, ink blending tools and pads, splat mat/non-stick mat, lots of black foam dimensionals/pop-dots, double sided adhesive, quick dry glue, Glossy Accents, & optional exacto/craft knife with a self-healing mat.

G45 Club - Extra Class

Saturday, October 12th
2:00 – 5:00
$40.00

A double treat for Graphic 45 lovers on this Saturday! Ready for double the fun? We will be doing a bit of homework for this class due to all the detail and fussy cutting. But you have to agree with me that Graphic 45 means fussy cutting, resulting in beautiful layouts and projects. You know me, maximize what you can do with your paper!

This layout has five 3-1/2 square photos and one 5 x 3-1/2 photo. Black, green, vintage cream and yellow sunflowers make this a unique layout that could make a beautiful Christmas gift. See if you can find where there might be a total of 5 hidden tags to pull out on this layout!

This is what you will need for homework – fussy cutting scissors and a black or dark brown marker to edge all cutting and get rid of the white paper core.

This is what you will for class – paper trimmer, scissors, Tim Holtz Antique Linen & Vintage Photo with an ink blending tool, splat mat/non-stick mat, Martha Stewart deep edge punch, double sided adhesive, lots of black foam dimensionals/pop-dots, Glossy Accents, ruler, pencil, a black or dark brown marker, and a black or dark brown ink pad.
